About the Farmers
|
All our lives, and most apparently while living in our first home in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA, we came to the conclusion that what we most wanted was a simple life doing meaningful work. We wanted a farm. Having no luck finding the right place in Pennsylvania, we turned our attention to Wisconsin. This is a state we both knew, having met each other at Northland College, on the shores of Lake Superior. Both our families have roots in Wisconsin – Brigid's father was born and raised in Waupaca, and Ross’s grandmother grew up in Racine. Now we have brought our own kids, Leila, Fisher, and Elsa, to the small town, rural life we love.
Ross has a bachelor's degree in construction management with nine years spent working in green building before beginning his work as a farmer. Ross is intelligent, hardworking, thoughtful and patient. His focus on the farm is vegetable crop planning, construction projects, managing cover crops, field rotations, managing our work crews and maintenance. Brigid has a bachelor's degree in outdoor education, a love of animals, and enjoys making art of all kinds. She enjoys working with people of all ages. She considers her best qualities to be creativity, courage and joyfulness. Her focuses on the farm are flower growing, floral design work, marketing , website work, seed starting and outreach. |
