All our lives, and most apparently while living in our first home in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA, we came to the conclusion that what we most wanted were not desk jobs and lots of things, but a more simple life doing meaningful work. We wanted a farm.
Having no luck finding the right place in Pennsylvania, we turned our attention to Wisconsin. This is a state we both knew, having met each other at Northland College, on the shores of Lake Superior. Both our families have roots in Wisconsin – my (Brigid) father born and raised in Waupaca, and Ross’s grandmother growing up in Racine. And now we have brought our own kids, Leila, Fisher and Elsa to the small town, rural life we’ve been craving.
Ross has a background in construction management with nine years spent working in green building before beginning his work as a farmer. Now with many years of organic farming under his belt, he is well prepared to grow our own farm business. Ross is intelligent, hard working, thoughtful and patient.
I (Brigid) have a background in education, and passion for the natural sciences, and creating art of all kinds. I have a great love of the outdoors, and enjoy working with people of all ages. I love preparing and preserving food and added shepherding and beekeeping to my many skills. I consider by best qualities as friendliness, creativity and a good sense of humor.
We are walking this path of owning a farm together with hearts and eyes wide open.
